Dear Parents and Guardians,
Please see below for a full update on some of our new opportunities for this week.
Update on Program-Wide Suspension:
We have made the decision to continue the suspension of all Sea Cadet activities until May 15, 2020. We are continuing to take all necessary measures and precautions to ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of our cadets and volunteers.
Cadet Promotions:
All in-person Sea Cadet activities have been suspended but the Sea Cadet program continues and your success is important to us. That's why we have made the following changes to ensure that each cadet in the program can continue to progress in their promotions.
Advanced Training:
We are working on developing training in a multitude of different styles. We do not want to rule out the possibility of small in person trainings yet. However, we understand that in this unprecedented time, we must also develop several virtual training options that will count for advanced training credit. We will continue to evaluate our options to ensure that we place the safety of our volunteers and cadets first.
Coursework:
Please work with your individual units to send them your answer sheets for the grading of any coursework completed.
Promotion Exams:
Parents can now proctor cadet exams at home. Exams will still need to be assigned in
NOTS by the unit.
Communication:
COVID-19 Information: We want to ensure that each of you is able to get up to date current information about our response to this outbreak. We will continue to use
www.seacadets.org/covid19 as the main information source for our parents and cadets during this time.
We are so excited to see your continued enthusiasm during this outbreak. We know that it can be stressful and frustrating, but we are inspired by your perseverance. Keep up the good work, cadets!
Best,
The National Headquarters Team
