3/12/2020 - COVID 19 | IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Dear DC Division Sea Cadet and Navy League Community,
With the news of continuous rise in confirmed cases of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) being reported around the United States, and public health officials’ expectation of continuous spread, we want to assure you of the significant commitment to the health and well-being of our community, as well as to the continuity of program wide operations. The guidance and procedures we are following are closely aligned with both the U.S. Navy and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
03/12/2020: Per the Sea Cadet Headquarter guidance, we have made the decision to suspend all Sea Cadet / Navy League activities for the next 30 days.
While there still has not been any confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Sea Cadet & Navy League Community, We want to ensure that each and every one of our cadets and adult volunteers is safe and healthy.
Please keep a lookout on our DC Division website for further updates.
What Can You Do:
We want to remind our volunteers, cadets, and parents that the best way to prevent the spread of illnesses such as COVID-19 and influenza is to:
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
If you feel sick, are running a fever, have a recurring cough, shortness of breath, or feel abnormally lethargic, please:
• Stay home from any Sea Cadet/Navy League related activities.
• Notify your Commanding Officer of your illness.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, and then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
If Sea Cadet/Navy League personnel or their families have recently traveled through China, South Korea, Japan, Iran, Italy, Hong Kong or another at-risk nation or area, we ask that you refrain from any Sea Cadet related event for the suggested self-quarantine period of 14 days. Should you experience any of the symptoms (fever, soar throat, recurring cough, and shortness of breath), please contact your medical provider to receive additional instructions for clinical care.
As we confront the Coronavirus together, keeping these suggestions in mind can help make all of us safer…and together we will get through this situation.
Very Respectfully,
LCDR. Carmichael, David NSCC
Commanding Officer
